New York must be ranked number one as the most ADD dating city with the highest cynical attitudes per capita.* Yet despite this statistic, my friend was able to find love in the city in classic New York style--at a bar.
During the summer of 2007, my friend and I were new to the city and just started grad school, where we had met. We both had plans to date around and have fun, but life took her in a different direction. As much as my friend resisted having a boyfriend, the guy at the bar was just too great of a person to pass up. Three years later, they wed in her hometown in Laguna Niguel.
The wedding ceremony took place this past Saturday at the Ritz Carlton.
A woman played the harp as we walked up the path to the outdoor ceremony area.
The bride and groom donned traditional Pakistani/Indian clothes.
We watched the sunset as we drank our cocktails (and mango lassi!) and snacked on hors d'oeuvres.
I totally miss Cali sunsets.
My note on their wishing tree. I don't think my friend wants to have babies any time soon.
I came to dance dance dance dance
I hit the floor cause that's my plans plans plans plans...
There was some Bollywood action happening on that dance floor.
The tables were named after NY landmarks and cities. My pseudo date and I sat at the Empire State Building table.
No one ever stays to eat the cake or they're too busy dancing. Of course I ate the cake. And it was delicious!
I wish my friends a lifetime full of happiness and enduring love. If they can make it here, they can make it anywhere.
*I am part of the cynical attitude population. I may not find love in NY but I'll sure have a lot of lust, infatuation, and confusion.
