Providence, Rhode Island = zzz

One of the good things about living in NY is that you could drive to surrounding states within a couple hours. Since I've already been to Philly, DC and Boston, I wanted to check out Providence, Rhode Island. I didn't know anything about the city beside the fact that there was a show named after it and the state was part of the original 13 colonies.

Since it was only three hours away and it looked cute in pictures, I thought, "Why not?" Well, last weekend I went and I can you why not: there's nothing to do and not much to see.

A random sculpture that looks like someone with pointy teeth bit the inside of a doughnut.

This is no ordinary church. It's the first Baptist church in America! And it's named the First Baptist Church in America. The founder wasn't very creative.

Some Georgian-style buildings next to the church. The streets were completely empty as I walked around without my friend in the morning. I could have been kidnapped. And held captive in someone's dungeon.

John Brown's house. I don't know who John is but he's supposed to be important.

To the west of the downtown area is Federal Hill, which is one street lined with Italian restaurants. This square is next to Constantino's Ristorante and a popular market, Venda Ravioli.

The square was packed for dinner as we waited for a table at Constantino's. We listened to a man and woman sing 80's music and watched an old couple dance. I felt like I was attending the entertainment hour at a senior citizen facility.

I think I had a better time at the Hilton with its comfy down pillows and bed than I did walking around Providence (considering the room was as big as my entire apartment). I'm done visiting cities around NY.
