For those who know me, that may sound contradictory to my belief in the impermanent nature of all things, that people tend to change what they want as time goes by, that there is no such thing as "The One," that there is only now.
But just as lightness can't exist without darkness, happiness without sadness, rainbows without ugly storms, my sappiness for cheesy romance stories wouldn't be as poignant if I had not experienced and observed and constantly hear of interactions that lacked love and compassion.
This past Saturday, I watched my radiant friend walk down the isle at the Surf and Sand Hotel in Laguna Beach. Right as she had her back to me (I sat toward the back row because I was late), I turned my attention to the groom, whose beaming face said it all. Here was the perfect picture of love, of two kind-hearted people who respected and loved each other, who truly deserved each other.
Here's to my friend and her hubby: I hope that your love for each other will only continue to bloom.

I'll always have my beautiful friend to thank, for showing me that even in the darkest of times, anything is possible with an open heart and mind.
