I was a freshman in college. Every morning I would wake up and turn on the tv to watch The Today Show, expecting to see the smiling faces of Matt Lauer and Katie Couric and to hear Al Roker deliver the weather forecast. But on September 11th nine years ago, I woke up to see images of a plane crashing into the World Trade Center. I sat in bed shocked in disbelief, saddened, confused, and scared.
No American will ever forget that fateful day. 9/11 and the events that followed will forever define our generation. It is my hope that we can practice compassion for all humans and have tolerance for people of different religions and ethnicities. That is the least we can do to honor the lives that were lost on 9/11.

You're absolutely right - no one can forget that moment of where they were when they found out. For me it was a Creative Writing class. Reminds me of the moment in Forrest Gump when he talks about JFK getting shot and the nurse on the bus stop recalling where she was.
In the end it's important that we not only remember the impact it had on us, but the lasting effect 9 years later. It's unfortunate that so many people live in fear and ignorance - specifically through the lens of religion but appreciate that you've taken the time to reflect on your blog.
Cheers.
