My friends and I took our second annual Labor Day trip to Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Hurricane Earl brought down some rain on our Friday night drive to our destination but the rest of the weekend was picture perfect.
After laying out on the backyard deck in the morning, we went to the Lobster Shack to get some lunch and watched giant seagulls swoop down on unsuspecting diners.
Fresh lobster rolls!
The Lobster Shack overlooks a rocky ocean.

That's what she said!

On Sunday we laid out at Higgins Beach.

Then we went home to make shortbread cookies, which had 3 fatty sticks of butter for just nine servings of cookies.

We also snacked on homemade oatmeal cookies and gingersnap cookies. I'm pretty sure I ate half of both jars.

The fridge was stocked with pumpkin beer. For those of you who don't know, I have an obsession with pumpkin-flavored everything.

As the sun set, we started to cook the mussels that my friend's brother caught from their backyard.

Of course our trip wouldn't be complete without eating freshly caught lobster.

I tried to wake up on Monday morning to see the sunrise. 6am was the best I could do.
Once again, summer went by too fast. I'm always get a bit sad when summer ends but then I have the fall to look forward to--wearing sweaters, spotting foliage, snuggling up in a blanket, and sipping pumpkin lattes.
