Yesterday we went to Central Park to watch the last film of the summer that The Conservancy, the sponsor of the festival, was showing. Unlike the mad rush of people bolting onto the field at Bryant Park, this Saturday's audience was more family-oriented, with a steady stream of people entering the grounds. The Conservancy provided folding chairs, bleachers, plastic sheets and inflatable rafts for seating. We laid our blanket down on top of the astroturf and enjoyed the Oreo popcorn and cheese popcorn that they were giving away.
Because yesterday was the last day of the film festival, people were allowed to vote online for which movie they wanted to see. The only movie I recognized, and wanted to see, on the list was Hitch. Apparently most people wanted to see Barefoot in the Park, starring a handsome Robert Redford and a psycho Jane Fonda as newlyweds who barely survived their marriage. Much to my surprise, the movie was hilarious and quite enjoyable.
