Otafukyu?! No, Otafuku!

My best buddy from California is here visiting me and another friend. She's my TMI friend who I've known since 8th grade, the girl who called me Angus for a whole month even though I corrected her every time. So far we have been meeting up at cafes and restaurants to eat and catch up.

Today we went to Cha An in East Village and checked out their cool high-tech Japanese toilet (it was only in the women's restroom). Actually, my friends were already there to eat, but I came later and saw the toilet.) Of course the Japanese always have to have the cool gadgets! I don't have a picture of it, but basically the lid opens up automatically from a sensor, and next to the toilet are buttons that allow you to rinse your va-ja-ja and ass and to dry it as well. I'm sure the Japanese are in a laboratory as I speak, testing out a robot arm that reaches up to wipe your ass. It also comes with a seat warmer too...not that you would sit on a public toilet because your mama taught you better than that...or maybe you would...

I tried on my friend's fingerless glove/mitt. I felt like a bum. For real. I feel bad for the thumb because its friends are out yet it has to stay inside.

Then when I converted the glove into a mitt, I felt like I was a seal...or better, a puppet. Who knew a glove/mitt could be so versatile and make you feel so many wonderful things?

I stopped by Otafuku a couple storefronts away. Literally, it's this hole-in-the-wall kitchen with standing room for about five customers that is known for their fried octopus balls (you could see them in the picture in between the two cooks), called takoyaki. They also make okonomiyaki, which is this pan-fried batter cake with shredded cabbage and whatever meat you want in it, and yakisoba (noodles). Unluckily for me, they ran out of octopus :(

So I got the okonomiyaki, which was paaaaaaarty-in-my-mouth-exploding good! It looks like a mess, but somewhere beneath the sauce (tasted like bbq), mayo, ginger and fried fish flakes, is a crispy piece of heaven.
